Hi, I’m Sam and I’m the Chief Rehomer at Fabulously Old Things! I’m British, but have lived in Hamburg for the last 12 years or so. I have 2 sons and a Saluki-cross dog called Annie. After working in the Health and Beauty industry in international marketing for more than 20 years, I finally decided to be brave and start my dream business. And so, Fabulously Old Things was born!
Fab Old Things started out as a personal love of shopping for vintage dresses, my favourite era being Studio 54 style 1970’s dresses! Then I wondered if I could share my love of all things old and fashion-conscious so in 2019 I began to stand on flea markets with my dresses. I also found myself in the middle of a divorce, which changed my economic status significantly and realised that I had less to spend on my passion for vintage.
At the beginning of 2020, I did a spontaneous pop-up event with a friend and before I knew it, I had signed the lease on a shop! I signed on March 9th and one week later the Pandemic lockdown hit. I silently opened the door to my shop on May 4th 2020 and have never looked back! Thanks to my wonderful community and friends I have been fighting my way through these tough times, alongside everyone else!
What is important to me is making every single person that walks into my shop feel important. Nothing makes me happier than seeing someone else smile, whether because of a new dress, a funny Christmas jumper, a cup of English tea, or simply because of a chat and a smile! Be kind, that’s my personal philosophy!
